From Ants, to Dwarves, to Skylines — Exploring Simulation in Games

2-4pm @ The Museum of Art & Digital Entertainment (The MADE)

Led by Los-Angeles-based experimental game maker Aidan Strong, this artist talk & workshop will consist of a brief artist talk about the history of art game simulations, an open play session of vintage and contemporary game simulations, and a workshop where participants can create their own cellular automata mini-games. A little bit about Aidan Strong: Aidan Strong is a Los Angeles-based artist and game maker. His practice uses games as spaces for emergent play, community, and collaboration. Strong holds a B.S. in Mathematics from UCLA and is now pursuing an MFA in Design Media Arts there. His work has been featured in Rock Paper Shotgun, Indiepocalypse, and Y-Combinator's Hacker News, and shown internationally at the Digital Games Research Association and Electronic Literature Organization.
